On March 16, 2021 — St. Patrick’s Day Eve — John Fertig gave a Zoom presentation of his ski trip to Yellowstone in 2005.
Following the main presentation, Ron Hoyt stayed on and reminisced about the CONC winter backcountry ski trip to Yellowstone led by Shari Hogshead and Paul Gauthier in 2013.
Paul Gauthier also shared some photos and commentary about the 2013 trip. They are a happy memory of Shari and the trip, and may be useful for CONC members’ future ski adventures to Yellowstone. See below for Paul’s photos and notes.
“The Yellowstone yurt trip that Ron Hoyt was referring to was a CONC trip in 2013 that Shari and I led,” , Paul explained. “We first spent a few days at the Snow Lodge at Old Faithful and then were picked up by y snow coach and taken to the yurt camp at Canyon for another four or five days. The best part was a day trip to the Yellowstone Falls area. We also had some good telemarking slopes.”
