Four hikers started Sunday, June 14 at the upper parking lot for a trek to the top of Lookout Mountain. The day began chilly and wet with an unstable air mass. However by noon things started to look up and by two it was a very pleasant day; maybe a little windy especially at the summit. The group hiked up Independent Mine Trail and back down the Lookout Mountain Trail for a total of a little over seven miles. Despite all the photos of wildflowers the best is yet to come; with some warm weather this week the trails will become an explosion of color.
