A Foggy Pine Mountain Hike

The weather forecast for Sunday, May 26, was similar to the prior week and fairly dire.  However “once warned, twice shy” did not apply to one group of CONC hikers who cancelled last week’s hike due to weather, but headed to Pine Mountain this week in spite of the forecast.  The drive out was through ground-level fog, but the group of 9 hikers was undeterred.  After arriving, they donned their rain gear and started off in thick and spooky fog, described by Eileen Woodward to be “like pea soup.”  Obviously there were no expansive views from the ridges of Pine Mountain, but this favorite hiking spot was experienced in different and interesting circumstances.  Everyone had a grand time and agreed that the conditions only added an element of awe to the hike.
