The first weekend on October we ALWAYS walk around Clear Lake. So Sunday, October 7, Linda Frost led a group of 24 (!) hikers around the lake off the McKenzie highway. The group was split in two due to its size; one half going clockwise and one going counterclockwise. Weather was near perfect; cool with warm lava fields providing a cozy lunch spot. And everyone took their time because of the gorgeous scenery of changing colors with the turquoise backdrop of the lake. There was even time for a bit of mushrooming.
