The Cedar Creek fire dashed the group’s hopes for hiking to Sisters Mirror Lake due to trailhead closures. So several hikers decided to head to the Swampy Lakes trailhead and hike around on those trails instead. In the summer these trails are primarily used by mountain bikers and so they’re in pretty good shape. Although a little smoky, the air quality was not bad. The group went first to Swede Shelter then decided to head for Swampy Shelter. There were sightings along the way of Mt Bachelor, Tumalo Mountain and Broken Top. In all, the group did around 8 miles in one big loop. A fun way to spend the day.
