Black Crater

Jerry Sebestyen led a hike up Black Crater off McKenzie Pass on Sunday, July 12.  The hike is about 7.5 miles with roughly 2,000 feet of elevation, and some short snow fields near the top. Many wildflowers are still to be enjoyed on the hike, with many more expected to bloom on the upper part of the trail.  The day was a little over cast at the beginning so the views weren’t as extensive as they can be, since fire has opened up the lower levels of the hike.  However, the view from the summit was fantastic, making the hike well worth the effort.
