Bluebird Day at Todd Lake

With abundant sunshine, any prognosticating rodent that poked its head out of its burrow near Todd Lake on Groundhog Day definitely would have seen its shadow. Thus, we should be in for six more weeks of winter-like weather. But for the 9 skiers who gathered at the Mt. Bachelor Nordic Center to ski down to Todd Lake, the conditions were more like spring with mild temperatures.

We skied down the Common Corridor to the Todd Lake Trail and continued along the unofficial trail to circumnavigate the lake. The open slope at the far end of the lake proved irresistible to those who wanted to test their telemarking skills. After lunch, we continued around the lake to the Water Tower Trail and return to the vehicles at Mt. Bachelor. We could not have asked for a better day of skiing!
