The CONC early Sunday hike across Browder Ridge in the Old Cascades Willamette National Forest offered a full menu of flowering hillsides, wide open views, and cool temperatures along with good company. Thirteen people hiked the ridge end to end with a side trip to the meadow at the top, covering 9 miles and 2100’ of elevation gain. Browder Ridge is just to the south of Iron Mountain, so at this time of year the flowers are at peak. There are far fewer people on the Browder Ridge trail than Iron Mountain and many more flowers to entertain you. The approach from the west crosses numerous open blooming slopes and is highly recommended.
