Tuesday, June 25, CONC Meetup hosted 15 hikers on the Browder Ridge trail in the Willamette National Forest off the Santiam highway. Once again the weather was questionable, but once again it turned out to be a great day. This hike in particular is nice to do in cool weather.
Rhodedendrons and bear grass were abundant everywhere. The forest understory is littered with lots of white flowers, like queen’s cup, bunchberry, and my favorite, trillium. In the meadows on the ridge there was dense larkspur and penstemon. Many of the lower meadows have not even bloomed yet.
