This post covers two CONC hikes this week.
On Sunday August 11th, two hikers enjoyed a delightful and cool ramble on the Upper Whychus Creek Trail. The photos (by Paul Gauthier) on this page show how wonderful this hike was on a hot summer day.
Earlier this week, Roz O’Donoghue led six CONC hikers on another hike in a series of “Trails Less Traveled” on Monday, August 5th. Roz reported that it was an arduous but rewarding hike on the North Pyramid trail, where they gained 1910 ft. in elevation over 3.7 miles, finishing with a scramble to the summit of the Middle Pyramid. The views (alas, no photos ;-/ ) were well worth the effort on the way up, including a panorama of Mt. Jefferson, Coffin Mountain, Bachelor Mountain, the Three Sisters, Mt. Washington, and Three Fingered Jack. All were grateful for the numerous switchbacks and continuous shade on the ascent. The hikers finished by returning on the same route, cruising downhill to their cars.
