Continuing with her “trails less traveled” theme, Roz led a hike to the top of Crescent Mountain on the old Cascade Crest trail Wednesday, November 13. The sun came out before crossing Santiam Pass and the seven hikers were treated with cool, comfortable weather and mostly clear skies for this difficult nine mile hike. No flowers in the meadows this time of year, but the old growth forest filtered the low angle light into a mystical presence. Views at the summit were spectacular, extending from Mount Adams to the north (and left of Mt. Hood!) down to Diamond Peak in the south. Needless to say, we were all quite pleased with Roz’s choice!
