It was a chilly, wet start to the Dry Canyon hike on Sunday, October 20, but it turned out to be a great choice for the day. The gully was well protected from the wind blasting above the rim, so the initial chill was quickly blocked by the descent into the canyon. Four of the group clambered over the Rock Pile and added on the distance to the end of the canyon, making a 6.3 mile hike with 633 feet of elevation gain. The rain stopped, sun broke out a bit, and blue sky even made an appearance. It was a pleasant hike with good company; what’s not to like?
