Hike to Castle Rock

On April 23rd, a day that was supposed to be rainy and cold but turned out to be sunny and warm, two intrepid hikers set out to explore the nooks and crannies of the Castle Rock formation in the Badlands Wilderness. We crawled in out of several lava caves and scrambled around on a few of the other rock formations. We had to do a little route-finding to get back to the trail once we finally came out of the maze, but that added to the fun. Many thanks to the Avenza app for assisting in that endeavor! In all, we did about 7 miles and had a wonderful morning.
