Hike to Sisters Mirror Lake and Beyond

After obtaining the necessary USFS wilderness permits, Linda Frost lead an informal group of hikers to Sisters Mirror Lake on Sunday, September 12th.  Linda emphasized that “Sisters Mirror Lake is a brilliant choice for a fall hike. Besides the Mirror Lake itself, there are lots of charming lakes nearby, including Lancelot Lake.  The tangled web of user trails will take you past ponds, small lakes and big lakes formed by glacial movement, which are scattered with boulders and cliff edges. And some lakes are higher than the one right next door.”

Starting from the Mirror Lakes trailhead, the round trip to the primary lake is just 7 miles, but you will want to wander around, Linda advised.  The Pacific Crest Trail defines the east side of the lakes.  Keep that in mind if, like many people, you get a little disoriented.  The spring mosquitoes are all gone in the fall so it’s the best time to enjoy Sisters Mirror Lake.
