Eric Ness led 11 CONC members on one of his favorite hikes to Horse Lake on Sunday, November 10 starting from the Elk Lake trailhead. The loop trail totals about 10 miles, with 500 feet of elevation gain each way; but is not a difficult hike taking a total of about four hours of walking. The real reward comes at lunch time if it is spent on the long, rocky peninsula that extends out into the lake off a fairly obscure fisherman’s trail. Add a bit of sunshine (which requires a bit of luck), and you have a very fine day. Though there are otters in the lake, they did not make an appearance for us.
