Horse Mountain Lookout
Ten hikers started out on the trail at Elk Lake headed to the old Horse Mountain lookout in the Three Sisters Wilderness on Sunday, July 21. The PCT here is in great shape and is shaded for the most part. At this time of year however, the mosquitos were hungry and the liquids they extracted from the hikers didn’t come close to satisfying their appetite. Vicious mosquitos! Trail junctions were tricky in this area but armed with map, compass, and trail software, the group made it to the top to enjoy lunch with a view, no mosquitos, and a cooling breeze.
