On June 27 Ann Padgett led a small group to Lookout Mountain, the tallest peak in the Ochocos. They started on the Independent Mine Trail and made their way uphill 4 miles to the top. There was some haze but they saw Mt. Shasta to the south and Mt. Adams to the north. The hope was to see all the way to Rainier, but it was just a little too hazy. However, there were lots of wildflowers along the way.. It was a hot day in Bend (upper 90’s) but a cool 82 when we returned to the trailhead.
