Susan Sullivan led 11 CONC members on a hike on Sunday, November 10 from McKenzie Pass to Matthieu Lake; taking advantage of the last Sunday the pass will be open this year. The Matthieu Lakes loop is great this time of year, initially following the PCT with views of Mt. Washington and Belknap Crater. Lunch at Upper Matthieu Lake was leisurely; except for the constant wariness of the grey jays that hovered nearby, ready to steal any food morsel they could! Some hiked on down the PCT, encountering a bit of snow at higher elevations; but the cool weather fully cooperated with mostly clear skies.
