Roz lead 12 CONC hikers on the Otter Bench trail on Sunday October 27. The trail is in the Crooked River canyon, about two thirds of the way up from the river, and starts a few miles before the river empties into Lake Billy Chinook at Palisades Cove. The trail is closed from February 1 to August 31, because the canyon walls are nesting sites for Golden Eagles. Several hikers brought their binoculars hoping to see an eagle, but mostly just saw white excrement stains on the canyon walls below old nesting sites. Still, the clear day and crisp temperatures were perfect conditions for this hike.
