John and Sue Sullivan led a short hike Sunday, October 7 on the Swampy Lake loop with a mission: stopping at Swampy Lake shelter to stack the firewood that had previously been split. In spite of an enticing alternate hike to Clear Lake, a total of six folks took the challenge. With that many helpers (and twice that many gloves!) the huge pile of wood was stacked by noon, allowing plenty of time for a pleasant hike on a beautiful day.
