Nine people – and one dog – hiked the Tam-a-lau trail at Lake Billy Chinook today on Sunday, May 12. The CONC does this popular shoulder-season hike at least once, and sometimes twice a hiking season. It was on the warm side of comfortable; most of the hikers used all the water they brought with them. Although not many varieties of flowers were seen, the Arrow Leaf Balsam Root was spectacular. There was also some phlox, paintbrush, onion, and camas.
