The rim viewpoints above Todd Lake afford spectacular vistas of the lake, Broken Top, and Sparks Lake. Fourteen CONC members hiked at a slow pace from one view to the next on Sunday, August 4. The trail goes uphill and down, sometimes steeply, for 5 miles. Thirty years ago this was a popular, well defined trail, but it has almost disappeared. It still looks to be popular with the elk; their sign was everywhere
The weather was warm, but there was often a nice breeze. Without the breeze and when we were not under the trees, it was downright hot. Later in the day the clouds began to build. We were not rained on, but the clouds built into thunderheads.
