“5 intrepid folks decided to forego the traffic on Century drive up the mountain and headed out to the mellow Tumalo Canals hike on Sunday, February 9. The route tagged all the Big Vistas with some (almost) intense off-trail bushwacking up Little Hill requiring an (almost) intense 290 feet of elevation gain from the base of this ‘overwhelming’ mountain. Whiskey Still trail came through with a bench and a view. They wrapped up the hike with an “intense” descent down a dry canal…ok, maybe a mellow stroll. Weather was about perfect and a pleasant time was had by all on this 5 mile loop with a total of 730 feet elevation gain.
