There were two hikes along the Deschutes River this Sunday, October 27.
Linda Frost led 10 folks along the Deschutes River trail, keeping close to “home”. It was “great as always” according to Linda, and everyone was home by 12:30.
John Fertig led an off-trail hike from the Deschutes River Woods area south of Bend, to the Deschutes River near Benham Falls. The three hikers crossed the lava fields north of Lava Butte on what used to be an old road, so it was a bit of a different hike for Central Oregon. The weather was clear and cool and the skies were blue with periodic views from Bachelor to Mt Jefferson. It would seem to be the perfect hike for a cool fall day.
