Whychus Canyon Preserve

Shannon Bergstedt led a CONC hike in the Whychus Canyon Preserve on Tuesday, June 28.  The Preserve is at the end of Goodrich road just northeast of Sisters.  This is a comfortable 5 mile hike that takes you down into the canyon and along (not across!) Whychus Creek.  Although it can be hot at the peak of summer, the creek helps cool the trail in the canyon, and Tuesday had a nice cool breeze that made it rather pleasant for the uphill climb out of the canyon.

Starting out, there are nice views of Black Butte and the Three Sisters. A few rock outcroppings serve as a viewing platform from which you can gaze down into the canyon.  At this time of the year, the wildflowers are out for an added bonus.
