Eight CONC members did a hike Sunday, August 18, led by Susan Sullivan, from the Devils Lake Trailhead. They went up the South Sister climber’s trail, which was steep, and then west down to Wickiup Plain, and back to Devils Lake. It’s kind of like the old children’s board game ‘Shoots and Ladders’ – you get all the elevation gain over with in the first mile and a half, then it’s a long, pleasant stroll down through old growth hemlocks and open pumice flats back to Devils Lake. Three people went a bit higher to an overlook of Moraine Lake, but ultimately finished at about the same time. Good times!
